The Engine House, Brandon Country Park
Brandon Country Park is a popular destination for walks in the grounds of the former estate. For many years the old Engine House and associated ancillary buildings had fallen into disrepair, despite having historical significance. The main building contains an enormous well, and pumping equipment that once connected to a water tower. Also a variety of old estate tools and equipment. The adjacent Bothy had not been used for years. Proposals were developed to bring both buildings back into public use, connecting them with a modest addition providing visitor facilities. The associated works involved re-roofing, local rebuilding of the walls, refurbishment of the metal windows and retention of as much as possible of the original fabric. The work was undertaken in association with Concertus.
The end of the building as found (below) was incorporated into the new link.
